W. ELLIOT GOPHER, III

Suddenly and tragically, as a result of the collapse of his tunnel on 26 September. Billy (Boy) Gopher III, 6th generation Park citizen, avid digger, enthusiastic collector, talented dancer, star athlete, and captain of the Pocket Gopher running team. The son of dancers Ludmila and W. Elliot Gopher II, Billy Boy was spotted early in his life for his natural talent of running backwards. Drafted immediately to the P.G. running team, he was made captain one year later and, under his captainship, the team won every event in which it was entered. He will be greatly missed by his whole family, including his mates Katrina, Marguerite, Dorothy, and Zara and perhaps, most of all, by the running team. Come August, we’ll win the big one for you, Billy. The Team will never forget you.
